My brother-in-law shared this gem with us. Corbin's Automotive (no site unfortunately) has been our favourite place to take our car. They are always friendly and their prices extremely reasonable. Our last oil change cost us only $40. When we got it done at Canadian Tire, it was $90. This is where the Mounties and police go to get their cars worked on, now what better reference can there be? The last time we got the oil change done we walked up to Tom's Family Restaurant. We really enjoy Tom's (you can read my original review here) and I was so happy to discover they served brunch!
Home fries are boring but wow, what fantastic pancakes! And fabulous decaf coffee. Tom's is huge. It's the one place on a Saturday night we know we can get a table. During the winter we go here a lot, it is always warm and cozy despite its large size. I consider it one of our homes away from home.
Gloria Steinem writes in Revolution From Within that you must always remember to write positive letters as well as letters of complaint. It is important to give good feedback too. Not a lot right has happened in my life in Nova Scotia but these are some companies that have really made a positive difference in our lives here.

What a great idea, Suzie! And a good mechanic who you can trust is worth his/her weight in gold, that's for sure! I'm lucky to have found a good auto shop here in Edmonton too -- recommended by a friend many years ago.
I'm impressed with the fact that Green Diamond isn't using potentially damaging (to the environment) chemicals or recommending excessive watering to keep your lawn green. Most of the lawn companies around here would do that.
It's true! A good car mechanic is so important and these guys rock. They even have driven us home in the winter when jobs were going to be very long. I'm glad you have a good auto shop in Edmonton too Debra!
Green Diamond literally shows up and takes care of everything when it comes to mowing and trimming. Our lawn is so big there is no way we can water it and they never judge which is nice. Seriously one of the nicest families I have ever met.
What a great post Suzie, so true, too many people focus on the negative, not to say that you shouldn't speak up when you've had less than acceptable service or products. I'm always happy to give referrals or fill out the survey cards whenever I can, especially if someone has gone above and beyond the call of duty lol....I'm always sure to get a name if someone has been exceptionally helpful, and pass on the info to their manager so they get the recognition.
