My Weird, Weird World

My Hood

Where I live is weird. There was no planning involved when my hood was created. It is a great victim of urban sprawl. This is the most people have done to turn this ugly burb into something worth looking at. OK, I admit, this bunch of graffiti is funny.

You know what is also funny? Next to the highway there are all these new condos and apartment buildings going up. Right beside them is a super tiny patch of green (I mean tiny!) with a couple of saplings on it and one bench. They call this a park. Right by the highway where no one would go to. I laugh bitterly every time I see it. A token park. I had no idea such things existed.

They even graffitied a giant pumpkin at our Superstore, how could they? Bastards!

Normally I like weird. I am comfortable with it. Yet I can not get comfortable here. When I go for my walks, instead of staying open to the experience I have to shut off my brain or else I will just scream in my head the entire time. Walks are supposed to be good for the soul. For me, they are hard on my heart and spirit.

Soon everything will be covered in snow, all the trash hidden under the white carpet. I will be stuck inside until spring. No outdoor walks. No trips to a token exhaust-ridden "park."

I am beginning to think an indoor life here is for me.

What colorful imaginations some have in your town though. I think they could have been a little more creative on the boarded up windows however. Thank's for sharing...
