Apparently the summer is coming (you can't really tell from our weather but you can from the TV guide) and you know what that means, a dearth of anything good to watch on television. Until Big Brother shows up (yeah, I watch it) my evenings are spent searching for something entertaining to watch.
Enter Netflix. Probably the best thing to happen to Canada in a long, long time. I rarely watch anything twice but Reg and I have been laughing our asses off every night watching Better Off Ted, a show that got canned way before its time. We have been having the best time watching two episodes a night with dinner, trying not to choke on our food as the chronic attack of wit and cynicism keep us on our toes.
If you have lived and survived working at an evil organization, you really should considering watching this show. I started my career wanting to be like Veronica, dreaming of being so tough I could sit in my own steel chair and be the cut throat brilliant boss but hopefully maintain some semblance of ethics which Veronica is oblivious to. I ended up being more like Linda, the lone voice of conscious in a horrid company who is low paid and rebels in tiny ways against the company to maintain her sanity.
Then there is the fabulous geek duo Phil and Lem who are so hysterical and smart that Reg and I consistently argue over who is best of the two. I love Phil but I find Lem fascinating. The show would not be the same without these two. I personally think they are the stars of the show.
Then of course you have the official show's hero, Ted, who tries to keep the psychotic company working without sacrificing its employees to capitalistic hell in the name of science. I like Ted but honestly, the rest of the cast is why I watch the show. I suppose I never met a Ted when I worked in my horrid work environment so he is more fiction than reality whereas the other members of the cast are almost too real despite being over-the-top.
Two seasons of Better Off Ted were not enough two years ago and not enough now. We are flying through them but we just don't care. If you are in a dark place and want to release some rebellious laughter, become a temporary team of Veridian Dynamics. The company's commercials are so funny they are alone worth $8 bucks a month to watch.

We've also signed up for Netflix in order to watch Season 4 of Mad Men (highly recommended series!) Will keep Better Off Ted in mind for a new series to watch. Are you a fan of The Office as well? (original British or American version?)
I'm not sure I can handle the sexism of Mad Men but I do hear good things! I tried both versions of The Office and couldn't get into them I am afraid. Not geeky enough perhaps, LOL.
Netflix rocks--I have consumed so much weird crap! Haha!! If you like dark comedy you might also like It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Hilarious. :)
Oh my gosh, that sounds awesome!!!!!!!! I may have to get it too. You know what I liked htat surprised me? Weeds. Totally not at all my kind of show, but it plays on our TVGuide channel, and it has kinda grown on me!
