All summer in 2002 on our suburban mountain top the sun shone down on us and the gardens in the hood loved it.

You could grow just about anything you want in BC. I mean, what on earth is this?!

We were living amongst millionaires for less rent than we paid in Vancouver. We felt like we were getting away with something and loving it.

We had a real life. I would go hiking looking for wildflowers like this.

And end up discovering views like this! This was the first time I could see Mount Baker from Ridge Park. Doesn't it look like a painting in the sky? It never looks real to me.

On our weekends we would sometimes go into Vancouver for events for my husband to perform with his kung fu school. For this particular weekend it was Killarney Day at our old community center.

Every family in the neighbourhood would come out and celebrate and it was always beautiful.

This is one of my favourite photos that I took back then. I bet this little boy is now getting ready for high school!

The school's flag performance was always very impressive and the sound all those flags would make flying through the air was amazing. Reg is right at the back BTW.

Kids of all ages performed and did they ever perform a lot. Reg's kung fu school was very active sharing their skills with the Lower Mainland which built confidence in them and let their abilities shine.

Reg's journey back into the martial arts began with Tai Chi. Back then he was still a beginner...

... but it became clear to everyone very soon that this was a perfect fit for my husband. Watching him perform always took my breath away and no, not just because he is the love of my life.

Great photos Suzie!
Great shots of Reg and yes, love that bubble machine and little boy!
Thanks Angela! I was finding my digital photography groove around that time. Debra, Reg is so photogenic it's silly. Isn't that little boy adorable? He played with those bubbles for like an hour!
