Things just keep getting worse

Living room ceiling leak

At the end of this week's three days of continuous torrential rain I noticed this stain on our living room ceiling (top right). Yes, that is our newly painted ceiling.

The sight of it immediately filled me with dread. I thought back to when we bought the house which was in the winter so the roof was covered in snow, we could not get it inspected.

I called in to get a quote to fix it and the guy went up there and said the whole roof was shot, we had to get it replaced. He was kind enough to patch the worst of it to help our ceiling dry out. I remembered there had been other old water stains in the same room which is why we had the ceiling painted in the first place. It was clear, this has to be done.

So everything is coming to a halt. I had some plans to go visit Toronto and now I probably won't be able to go. I have to do some creative financial finaggling to make this work but our lives are going to be on red alert.

It all makes me feel totally sick to my stomach. I didn't think I could feel worse about living here, turns out I am wrong. Reg said it will help sell the house when we eventually escape so that is my only consolation. I am so tired of not having a life.

As a result, I'll probably continue my walk down memory lane with less distractions now. I literally have nothing to write about when it comes to my life.

Thanks to all your wishes the sun finally came out but I'll be enjoying it through my windows as people tear the roof off my house and put on a new one. Oh joy, oh bliss.

Wait to see what the home inspection people say -- hopefully it might not be too bad? It could just be an isolated leak, not the whole roof.

As I mentioned on your foodie blog, so sorry to hear about the sucky news. We've been through some tough times financially over the past few years as well (like so many it seems), but somehow and someway and with a bit of creativity, things do work out. I know that our Angels do look out for us, because there were times when we felt sheer despair and magically a little crumb or two would fall into our lives to help us over the hump. Sending a hug with hopes of brighter days ahead.

We had it inspected which is how I found out the roof was rotted. I called references and the BBB and will be signing a contract next week to get it done. Hope our roof holds up through another weekend of rain. Thanks for the support. I really need it. Life has just been too rough lately.

Oh no! That's awful Suzie. I hope they can get it done quick and with little disruption to your home. Sucks.
