In October 2002 the rainy season was just beginning in Westwood Plateau and we got a glimpse of what our first winter on the mountain was going to bring: dark and fog. But it wasn't winter yet!

The mountain was quite grateful for the rain, you could hear part of it sighing, but the other part was overwhelmed. Even though we didn't know it, the living creatures on the mountain knew just how much rain would be coming our way.

Thankfully we still had many days of stunning sunshine as the final houses in the neighbourhood were being erected. On bright days, we just could not stay in our hood so we gathered our friends Cathy and Pepin, the travelling rabbit, and went for an adventure.

We drove out past Maple Ridge, Mission Hill and Chilliwack in search of Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park. The park is closed during the winter and we wanted to be sure to get a chance to see the waterfall before it got too icy and they shut the park down. The mountains along the drive were astounding and we saw more and more glaciers on mountain tops.

There is is! If there was ever a fountain of youth, I think this has got to be it. Look at the colour of the water in the pool at the bottom! So beautiful and healing.

Reg, Cathy, Pepin and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the falls.

As we drove back it was golden hour and the yellow light brushing up against the farmland at the bottom of the mountains. Everything looked so rich and warm.

Along the way we found a real authentic crossroads with this old tree trunk in the middle. Every time I watch the show Supernatural and they go to the crossroads, this is where I am transported. Funny how the gold light has been transformed to a blue sky.

Being neither drinkers nor religious folk, Reg and I never made it to Mission Hill but we drove by it a lot on our adventures. I would like to go back one day for their tour and to see the view from the hill.
Another weekend, another adventure in British Columbia back in 2002.

Suzie, such a beautiful name: Bridal Veil Falls...looks just like it!
I'm so glad I could see so many places with you and Reg (and Pepin).
These are jewels!
We never made it to Mission Hill Winery...
"Mission Hill winery is a work of art, starting with the Chagall tapestry in the winery reception room, and continuing with [proprietor] von Mandl's collection of antique wine-drinking vessels and the cellar blasted from volcanic rock."
...but I think we did well ;)
Life ain't over yet, more adventures to come!
It's true Cathy, it did! We had such a great time together, didn't we? So many adventures! It's nice to look back. Martin and Michelle got to Mission Hill and they said the view was amazing. Yes, more adventures for sure!
